How Did You Get Hired?

I was with a large accounting firm and was looking for a different kind of work experience. I checked out Power Design's website and was impressed by their values, culture and focus on professional development. I submitted my resume and was contacted for an interview. That was nearly three years ago, and I haven't looked back since! Power Design has the ideal working environment – supportive, challenging and exciting.

Career Highlights

  • Traveling to jobsites in my assigned region, which includes Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and Maryland. Seeing various types of projects in progress keeps my skill set sharp!
  • Developing strong relationships with our customers. The large scope of these projects requires a professional, service-oriented approach.
  • Handling all of the sensitive legal documents for the jobsite – contracts and scope review, etc.
  • The experience of working with multiple departments within Power Design, from field operations on the jobsite and project managers, to our in-house legal counsel and accounting department.

What’s Your Career Path?

The great thing about being a contract administrator is that you truly learn about the building process. Because you work with almost every department, you gain a unique perspective on how the different roles come together to complete a project. With my finance degree, I could easily migrate into a management position in accounting or even project management, but right now I'm focused on becoming a senior contract administrator or a project engineer!
