How Did You Get Hired?
I've been with Power Design for over six years. I found out about the company while working for a regional electrical contractor in Sarasota, FL. I was looking for more stable employment and kept seeing Power Design trucks on large jobsites. I visited the website, applied for the foreman position and got the job. After a couple of years of training, I was promoted to project superintendent. About three years ago, Power Design relocated me to Houston to manage a multi-use, high-rise project in downtown. Now I'm working on my second project here!
Career Highlights
- Being an integral part of the planning process for new projects. I fly back to corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL to participate in job-start meetings, which entails reviewing project scope and scheduling, planning production requirements and meeting with the business development team to learn about the customer's expectations.
- Working as a team with the general contractor and the other trades to ensure successful jobsite coordination.
- Managing all aspects of work on the jobsite – labor, installation and scheduling coordination. I wouldn't be in this position today without good mentoring and a lot of training!
- Ensuring the job maintains the highest standards of quality that Power Design customers have come to know and expect.
What’s Your Career Path?
After I finish this project, I can move up to senior project manager. |
