The program titled ‘Power Essentials’ is 5-day interactive workshop that consists of industry best practices and company specific procedures to help field teams become more effective in managing new construction projects. Over the week, Power Design’s 12,000 square foot training facility is transformed into a simulation experience providing hands-on, practical training.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (January 29, 2010) - Power Design, Inc., in partnership with Investment Café, announced that the companies have teamed up to donate the use of their corporate plane to Caritas Christi Health Care clinicians to use for medical missions to Haiti leaving today. The clinicians will use donated medical equipment and supplies to care for those in need in this earthquake ravaged country.

The plane will be used to transport clinicians and medical supplies from Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa to Haiti and specifically to Cap Haitien, a city in the outlying areas in the north of the country. In addition to the Port Au Prince, the outlying areas were also devastated by the earthquake and these regions are the focus of Caritas Christi Health Care missions.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (November 1, 2008) – Members of Power Design’s south Florida team, in partnership with Current Builders, recently participated in the 2008 Habitat for Humanity Builders Blitz in Delray Beach, FL.

This Blitz project, the second Habitat project of its kind in the United States, gives many low-income families the opportunity to own their own homes. The goal of the Blitz is for specialists in the construction industry to come together to build two single-family homes in seven days, with as much donated time and materials as possible.

Power Design contributed 90 percent of the electrical materials needed for this project, while Gexpro and Maurice Supply donated the remaining materials. Installation sub-contractor Pisol lent a truck to aid in temporary power, while Power Design Resources contributed all of the lighting fixtures to this worthy cause. The Power Design team worked extended hours, showing up Saturday and Sunday to complete the job.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (October 23, 2008) – Power Design, Inc., a full service electrical subcontractor, continues its growth initiatives by hiring Chris Bayer as divisional operations manager to head up the company's projects and expansion in the Mid-Atlantic. Bayer joins the Power Design leadership team at the company's new 70,000 square foot headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida.

As a divisional operations manager, Bayer will oversee Power Design's Mid-Atlantic operations with responsibilities including: oversight of project managers and training; job site operations and schedules; customer relations; and adhering to and promoting Power Design's management philosophy in the field. Currently, Bayer's position is responsible for the completion of over 5,000 units through 2010 in the Mid-Atlantic.

Prior to joining Power Design, Bayer worked as a project manager for Catalfumo Construction. Bayer received a B.S. in construction management along with a an MBA from the University of Florida.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (September 29, 2008) – Before Meredith Zdon, 33, was awarded Business Woman of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business Journal last month, the youngest to ever receive this recognition, little was known outside of the construction industry about Power Design, Inc., a company quietly growing into one of the biggest employers in the Tampa Bay area and doing business in 12 states across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southwest.

Founded in 1989, Power Design has become one of the largest national electrical contractors in the country with capabilities including design build & value engineering ser¬vices, low voltage systems, fire alarm, security, structured wiring, telephone, cable head end systems, controlled access & all other wiring needs. As a full service electrical subcontractor, based in St. Petersburg, FL, Power Design performs the aforementioned electrical scope of services on new construction multi-family projects primarily comprised of hotels, apartments, condominiums, student housing, military housing, assisted living, commercial office space and timeshares.

As Chief Operating Officer of this massive outfit, Zdon is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of the organization's operational policies, objectives and initiatives. No small task for a company operating in 12 states and since taking on the role of COO in 2003, Zdon has overseen a growth in revenue by 700% from $30 million to over $210 million.

"The opportunities for Power Design remain strong. We currently have over $1 billion in open bids," says Zdon. "We have strategically diversified geographically as well as by product type. We are currently working in 12 states with diverse product types including; hotels, apartments, condos, assisted living facilities, student housing and commercial office space. As a female, Zdon's leadership position at Power Design is unique in the primarily male-dominated, construction industry but at Power Design, there are a number of personnel holding executive roles. Mitch and Dana Permuy, the husband and wife team who own and founded Power Design, have made calculated decisions to bring in strong, talented women to help lead the business.

Zdon's most recent achievement and undertaking was the project oversight of their new 70,000 square foot building the company moved into last month. The building houses the new corporate headquarters and includes a 12,000 square foot training center for new and existing employees.

Before joining Power Design in 2003, Meredith held various supervisory and management positions in public accounting at Arthur Andersen and Aidman Piser & Co. She received her B.S. in accounting from the University of Florida and her Masters in accounting from the University of South Florida. Meredith is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida.
