Power Design Lands on the Nation’s Fastest Growing Private Companies List —Inc. 5000

Last week Inc. magazine ranked Power Design on its 35th annual Inc. 5000, a list representing a unique look at the most successful companies in America. Companies such as Microsoft, Pandora, LinkedIn, Yelp and Zillow gained their first national exposure as honorees of the Inc. 5000. “To be honored on the Inc. 5000 list is a true achievement,” says Power Design CEO, Mitch Permuy. “Our strategic decision making has set the platform for continued growth.” Permuy attributes the company’s accomplishments to a few key differentiators that have taken Power Design from a local electrical contractor to a leading, full-service provider with a national footprint coast to coast. “The construction industry is traditional by nature,” he explains. “We have been challenging the status quo since inception, taking a different approach to our business model and focusing on relationships. Our innovations with training, technology, and quality control are what set us apart.”

The level of service we provide not just to clients but to our employees is a big draw for potential hires. Our holistic environment enables a work-life balance that our people appreciate.

As one of the company’s core values, innovation continues to be a driving force behind Power Design’s success. They recently completed phase one of a master campus expansion plan including 133,000-square-feet of corporate headquarters. The latest completed building consists of a 16,000-square-foot training center, fitness facility & sport court and hands-on jobsite simulation experiences; elements that uniquely position Power Design to attract, evaluate and engage employees while maintaining an exceptional reputation with their clients and peers. “No one makes the Inc. 5000 list without building something great – usually from scratch,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “That’s one of the hardest things to do in business, as every company founder knows. But without it, free enterprise fails.”

Making this recognition even more of a triumph for Power Design is the size and age of the company. “For us to be in business for 25 years and have over 1,000 employees nationwide, it’s a challenge to make it on a list of fastest-growing companies and be ranked amongst some amazing start-ups,” explained Lauren Permuy, VP of Business Development at Power Design.

The companies featured on the Inc. 5000 list collectively generated 640,000 jobs over the past three years, or about 8% of all jobs created in the entire economy during that period. “We are proud to be part of the economic upswing and are projecting even more job growth in 2017,” said VP of Human Resources, Marlene Velez. “The level of service we provide not just to clients but to our employees is a big draw for potential hires. Our holistic environment enables a work-life balance that our people appreciate.” Power Design was named one of Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Millennials in 2015 and continues to rank on the top of national industry lists for electrical contracting year after year. The 2016 Inc. 5000 list, which is the most competitive crop in their history, is now available for viewing online and available on newsstands August 23rd.
