A Hands-On Approach to Quality & Safety

Written by Power Design | May 8, 2026 1:49:57 PM

Safety at Power Design isn’t just a program. It’s a mindset that we take into every project.

It shows up in the way our teams plan, how they work together onsite, and the way they look out for one another in the field. It’s driven by our people, reinforced through training and leadership.

We’re highlighting our commitment to safety, as a reflection of what’s actively happening across our jobsites nationwide. Hear from our Director of Quality Control and Safety, Jim Wilkinson, on what sets our safety best practices apart on a jobsite.

Where Safety and Quality Meet

For our teams, safety and quality go hand in hand. The same discipline that drives safe work practices also drives quality installation. When projects are approached with care and are well thought out, the results follow: fewer mistakes, less rework, and stronger outcomes for our partners.

Supporting Our Field Teams

Our approach is structured to meet teams where the work happens.

A nationwide network of regional safety managers works directly alongside project teams, providing hands-on leadership, training opportunities, and ensuring alignment with our standards. Safety isn’t checked once. It’s reinforced daily through communication, observation, and accountability.

By staying engaged and visible on jobsites, our quality control team has shifted from being seen as oversight to becoming a trusted layer of support to help crews get it right the first time and eliminate rework.

Our Training Reflected in the Field

We invest heavily in in-house training because it allows us to do things our way. Our programs are tailored to our standards in the field. It’s not just about meeting requirements; it’s about reinforcing best practices and creating consistency across every project.

Proven Performance

The impact of our approach to safety is measurable. With an industry-leading EMR of 0.48 and a Recordable Incident Rate (RIR) of 0.82, our results reflect the strength of our safety culture in action. That performance has also been recognized across the industry, including honors from Engineering News-Record, ARCO Murray, and being named an ABC STEP Diamond Alliance honoree.

Why It Matters

At the end of the day, safety is about every team member on the job site going home to their families. It’s about creating an environment where teams feel supported, prepared, and empowered to do their best work.
