What do Power Design and the University of Maryland have in common? Dedication to performance, to looking out for our people, and creating spaces that give the end user a one-of-a-kind experience. See the brand new Barry P. Gossett Basketball Performance Center dedicated solely to the Men’s and Women’s University of Maryland Basketball teams. Check it out ⬇️

This space allows players to prepare for game day, relax after a tough training camp, or bond with their teammates. Our Project Superintendent describes piecing this performance center together as “one huge amenity center,” and that’s just what it is. Our teams saw what they had to do and faced it head-on. With a facility that serves different personnel, lighting controls and programmability were top priority to ensure late-night coaching sessions and game time planning.

With ambient lighting, a full kitchen build-out, top-of-the-line wellness and medical spaces, this is a true amenity space that requires attention to detail and being able to pivot at a moment’s notice. For instance, when other trades faced delays, which resulted in scheduling changes, our teams had only two days to install 48 lights in the ceiling, 35 feet above the ground, but our teams got it done, right on time.

Our teams are set up for success coast-to-coast with the support from the office to the field – and that is just part of what makes all the difference.

Bringing this performance center to life has allowed our teams to perform, showcase their expertise and uphold the standard of excellence across the board for this project – from taking on challenges such as utilities distribution and material delays, our teams stayed on top of their to-dos, while putting in every last effort and overtime hours, to welcome the Terps basketball teams to their new home.
