Home Sweet Habitat 🏡

Homeownership is key to establishing strength, stability, and self-reliance within our communities and Habitat for Humanity has been critical in creating those strong and stable communities across the country. That is why Power Design partnered with Habitat for Humanity of West Pinellas and Pasco (Habitat for Humanity WPP) this spring for our fifth sponsored home build to continue to help a family reach their homeownership dreams.

This year, we welcomed home Habitat for Humanity WPP's 883rd home recipients - the Byrd Family. Natasha Byrd, a mother of four, was dedicated to building a firm foundation for her family and creating a place they can always call home. The process of becoming a Habitat for Humanity homeowner is no easy feat and takes a lot of hard work — from attending more than 30 classes to be successful in her homeownership journey, to putting in sweat equity hours to bring her home to life, Natasha put in that hard work and is ready for a new beginning.

Over the course of a year, Natasha, alongside her neighbors and other future homeowners, took classes on financial stability, home maintenance, fire safety, learning how to be a good neighbor, and more. Through partnerships with companies like Power Design, Habitat for Humanity can provide more and more opportunities for future homeowners and provide a sense of support and community during their path to homeownership.

That new beginning for the Byrds also includes becoming part of the #PDIFamily Power Design team members dedicated more than 500 working hours to shaping Natasha’s new home, including working alongside the new homeowner installing windows, laying the landscape, and completing the finishing touches on the three-bedroom, two-bath home.

Habitat for Humanity and Power Design have come together to make a perfect partnership with the same end goal in mind, to better our communities where we live and work. Our very own CFO Heather Ford sits on the board for Habitat for Humanity and is actively involved in finding new ways to impact the community.
