Fortune recently revealed its national list of Best Medium Workplaces for companies with between 100 and 999 employees.

More than 52,000 employees were surveyed during the creation of this year’s Fortune Best Small & Medium Workplaces lists. Roughly 900 of those employees work for locally-based company Power Design, a national electrical contractor & engineer operating in 21 states across the U.S.

Landing at #38 on the list of Best Medium Workplaces, this ranking came shortly after Power Design made the INC. 5000 list of Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S.

How does a company that has been in business for over 25 years continue to make national revenue growth and best workplaces lists? “By being forward-thinking and never afraid to do things differently,” explains Power Design’s CEO, Mitch Permuy.

Power Design’s graffiti walls, sport court & fitness center, and 16,000-square-foot training facility are just part of Phase I of the recent campus expansion, slated to deliver in late 2017. Complete with a LED backlit electrical room, the campus is meant to reflect the innovative and holistic nature of the company, as well as provide employees an engaging environment to live and work in. As seen by the votes, Power Design is doing something right and shows no signs of stopping, projecting even further growth and job creation in 2017. About Fortune’s Best Small & Medium Workplaces List
The Best Small & Medium Workplaces rankings are based upon feedback from more than 52,000 employees at Great Place to Work–Certified companies. Employees completed anonymous Trust Index© survey, answering questions about how frequently they experience the behaviors that create a great workplace, including, for example, their assessment of the honesty and quality of communication by managers, degree of support for employees’ personal and professional lives and the authenticity of relationships with colleagues.

Results from the survey are highly reliable, having a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of 5% or less. Winning a spot on this list indicates the company has distinguished itself from peers by creating a great place to work for all – not only do the majority of their employees experience the company as a great place to work, but this experience is consistent across the organization, regardless of gender, race/ethnicity, job role, or other personal characteristics. The companies with the highest employee ratings compared with organizations of the same complexity in size and scope were selected for the list. Companies with fewer than 100 employees compete for placement on the 50 Best Small Workplaces list, and companies between 100 and 999 employees compete for placement on the 100 Best Medium Workplaces list.
