At Power Design, safety isn’t just a requirement – it’s how we make sure every team member goes home safely at the end of each day, and a mindset built into everything we do. And this year, that commitment hit a major milestone: our lowest Experience Modification Rate (EMR) ever: an incredible .48!
EMR measures a company’s safety performance based on past incidents and workers’ compensation claims, and a score below 1.0 is considered better than the industry average. Our .48 rating means Power Design operates at less than half the risk of most contractors in our space, which is a true testament to our people, processes, and culture.
At Power Design, safety starts long before anyone steps onto a jobsite. Every field team member completes OSHA-30, NFPA-70E, and CPR/First Aid certifications, ensuring they have the knowledge and readiness to keep themselves and their teammates safe.
On-site, our Safety Managers lead daily trainings and inspections, while Quality Control Officers perform assessments throughout each project’s lifecycle to reinforce that safety isn’t a one-time task, it’s a constant focus.
This culture is led by our incredible Safety Department and powered by programs like Zero-In, which emphasizes proactive hazard prevention and accountability across every jobsite. Through hands-on safety training, technology-driven tracking, and open communication, we’ve built one of the most comprehensive safety programs in the industry, and the results speak for themselves.
Our people-first approach and dedication to safety haven’t gone unnoticed. Over the past year, Power Design has earned multiple recognitions from both industry partners and trade organizations, including:
As we celebrate this record-breaking .48 EMR, one thing that remains unchanged is our commitment to ensuring every team member gets home safely at the end of each day. Every day, on every jobsite, our teams prove that when safety comes first, everything else follows: quality, performance, and the confidence to build what’s next.
