Crafting Comfort: Children's Cancer Center Renovation

Written by Power Design | Apr 26, 2024 12:39:35 PM

A place to connect and create away from the hospital, where kids can just be kids— say hello to the Children’s Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Serving more than 5,000 children battling pediatric cancer and chronic blood disorders and their families, the non-profit provides emotional, financial, and educational support to them during the worst time of their lives.

To continue to provide solace to families during the unimaginable times, the Children’s Cancer Center sought out KAST Construction to help them enhance their facility to provide a holistic center of comfort. KAST jumped at the opportunity to help create a new space for the kids and their families to escape the feeling of a hospital. They also knew who to call to jump in with them and bring the vision to life – Power Design.

KAST connected with our Chief Growth Officer Lauren Permuy about providing electrical services and amenities to enhance the kids’ experiences — and of course we said yes! The fight against cancer is a cause we hold near and dear at Power Design and when it came time to begin work, we were proud to donate our time and services.  From light fixtures and televisions to new electrical outlets and infrastructure, we were honored to provide our expertise on such a meaningful renovation.

Post-completion, our teams, as well as the teams from KAST, were invited to the grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting of the new center where families, organization partners, and other attendees could tour the new space and see the impact this will have on the families.

From a colorful art room using colors to speak to the organization’s values, to a music room where children can express themselves through music, the Children’s Cancer Center is pieced together perfectly for children and families to feel a sense of normalcy while receiving care away from the hospital.

Partnering with local community organizations like the Children’s Cancer Center is part of who we are at Power Design, and we’ll continue making a difference alongside our partners.  We send a big thank you to KAST Construction for partnering with us and trusting us with such a special project – helping create a place where kids can just be kids.
