#BetterTogether during Construction Inclusion Week! - Power Design

Written by Power Design | Oct 22, 2021 4:00:00 AM

While Construction Inclusion Week is coming to a close, we are just getting started learning and growing the ways in which we support diversity and inclusion! From taking inspiration from our partners on the CIW board, to hosting our own “Better Together” event this summer that celebrated cultural diversity and collaboration, Power Design is committed to keeping the conversation going. Check out how we celebrated the week (and Better Together) below!

Commitment & Accountability

We all play a role in creating an inclusive culture here at Power Design. That’s why we created an internal, 30+ member DEI Committee made up of employees with different departments, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and ages. They meet regularly to discuss and develop educational resources for employees, minority-focused recruitment efforts, philanthropic opportunities, community events, and celebrations.

Unconscious Bias

We realize that biases can manifest in the workplace, which is why understanding unconscious bias is critical to our #PDIFamily’s DEI education. Power Design recently provided #UnconsciousBias training courses to our employees that included topics such as identifying bias, cultivating connection, and choosing courage.

Supplier Diversity

Power Design is committed to using best faith efforts to utilize Certified Business Enterprises including Minority-Owned and Disadvantaged Businesses for subcontracting opportunities on projects. We recently subcontracted 30% of eligible project activities to minority-owned/certified business enterprises on our Broward County Convention Center project!

Community Engagement

Power Design gives back to charities our employees are passionate about through our corporate philanthropy initiative, Project V5. With 2,400+ team members nationwide, we contribute to a wide variety of regions, diverse causes, and communities that are important to our people.

Workplace Culture

Building and maintaining a DEI-focused culture starts with recognizing and celebrating others for their unique qualities. Power Design’s Better Together Bash was a worldly event celebrating collaboration via an immersive, cultural experience designed to make everyone feel included and respected.
