2022: A Year For the Books đź’Ą - Power Design

Power Design crushed 2022 in a big way by continuing to set the bar in both our industry and our community — for over 33 years! From shaping San Diego’s skyline with the 21-floor Hanover Little Italy project to the 600 Guadalupe high-rise towering 875 feet over downtown Austin, both projects leveraged our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team to help set the stage and visualize the full scope of the project for a smooth build.

Our dedicated, nationwide teams were also chosen to partner with Marriott, one of the world’s largest hotel companies, to build their International Headquarters Hotel in Bethesda, MD! From the sunshine state to the heart of the music city, Power Design’s Nashville squad took charge of more than 10 projects within the premier, urban neighborhood: The Gulch.

Beyond life at the GRID and our day-to-day work, Power Design always makes room for charity, camaraderie, and competition! Throughout 2022, our #PDIFamily rallied together for many philanthropic efforts — including some of our favorites:

•Powering Across the Gulf Stream for Cystic Fibrosis in honor of Piper’s Angels Foundation – Chris Fahnry paddled 80+ miles from the Bahamas to Lake Worth in under 15 hours!
•A Grills & Games Survivor Competition, raising more than $40,000 for a host of charities close to our employees’ hearts/
•Building Hope and Homes with the Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties, spending a collective 252 hours building the Mims’ future home.

If you know our people, you know culture is a huge part of what makes Power Design great. And hitting the beach for some friendly Beachside Team Building is right up our alley, as well as some Games & Good Times for our dedicated employees and their families at Dave & Busters to close out the summer.

While some of our friendly competitions take place outside of safety yellow vests, the annual Tough Rougher competition gives our teams a chance to put their skills to the test. #BraggingRights!

We love a good giveaway, and what’s better than a well-deserved truck? Two trucks!
Jeff Roach, Senior Project Superintendent, met all of our safety criteria (and more!) and was chosen to receive this year’s Safety Truck. A Tangerine Pearl 1956 Ford F100 Pickup Truck was the prize for our CRUSHED IT Truck Giveaway and Robyn Orta, Senior Project Superintendent, was more than surprised to be the winner!

2022 was a true milestone year for Power Design.
We opened the LINK, a 208,000 square foot distribution and prefabrication facility that enables our teams to provide faster installations and reduce waste. We also welcomed 28 new PowerU apprentices to the GRID for Signing Day – and awarded 90 apprentices the All-Star title!

And, for the first time in company history, Power Design has surpassed $1 billion in new job awards. But that’s not all – we took our safety standards to the next level and lowering our EMR rate to 0.57 (well below the industry standard of 1.0)!

We couldn’t do it all without the #PDIFamily and there aren’t enough words to express how proud we are of the community and family we’ve become over the years. 2022 was an amazing year for Power Design – but 2023 looks bright, and we’re excited to continue Designing What’s Next.
