Philanthropy Day: Celebrating our Collective Good

From taking part in local walks, parades, and races to coming together to raise awareness and help our neighbors in a time of need, there’s nothing our people won’t do out of passion for philanthropy at Power Design.

    Health & Wellness
So far in 2022, Power Design has raised (and given!) $180k+ to multiple causes in the name of health and wellness. This summer, a member of our #PDIFamily even paddled 80+ miles from the Bahamas to the coast of Florida to advocate for Piper’s Angels Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis!

We also volunteered, sponsored, and participated in many community walks; some of our most recent include:

Making Strides for Breast Cancer Awareness (dressed in our best pink!)
•American Heart Association Heart Walk (featuring 10 amazing teams from Power Design)
Out of the Darkness Walk for #WorldMentalHealthDay

    Education & Mentorship
Our Learning and Development team has also been busy! We hosted our first-ever PowerYOUTH Summer Camp where we introduced high school students to the ins and outs of the construction industry. Power Design employees also volunteered more than 90 hours at four Tampa Bay high schools to help guide nearly 400 students in Junior Achievement’s 3DE Schools program.

For the second year in a row, we’re excited to announce that six extended #PDIFamily members earned the $5,000 Rise High Scholarship for the upcoming academic year. We also welcomed 28 new PowerU Apprentices into the #PDIFamily at our fall Signing Day – and awarded 90 apprentices the All-Star title!

    Community Wellness
Our #PDIFamily is diverse, so we continue to find many ways to celebrate this (and we’ve done a lot of celebrating in 2022)! Our employees took to the downtown St.Pete streets dressed in a rainbow of colors for St. Petersburg’s 20th Pride Parade.

In April, we participated in several competitions for teamwork, fun, and fundraising:

•Our annual Tough Rougher Competition, where $20k was donated to select charities including the ASPCA
•A Grills & Games Survivor Competition, raising more than $40,000 for a host of charities close to our employees’ hearts

For the third year running, Power Design sponsored and assisted Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties, with more than 30 Power Design employees spending 252 hours working on building the Mims’ future home.

While we have much to celebrate, we also have just as much to be grateful for. We were privileged to provide relief efforts following Hurricane Ian that damaged many SWFL communities. Our team traveled to Ft. Myers to help Vietnam Veteran Charlie to bring his home back to life after a total loss of power.

Giving back to the communities where we live and work is something we’re proud of at Power Design, especially when it comes to supporting our military and Veterans across the nation. We do so through recruiting efforts and helping them transition back to civilian life. Learn how by watching our Lifetime TV feature: Military Makeover: Operation Career!

With all that Power Design does, we couldn’t have done it without the help and dedicated of our people. They put in the work. They rallied for each cause. They raised the money. They lent a helping hand. Big thanks to our #PDIFamily for being a team of passionate people who continue to give back in a big way.
