About the Position
Are you an experienced leader ready to drive the success of prefabrication in a high-performance construction environment? As a Prefab Project Manager at Power Design, you’ll take ownership of the prefabrication process from procurement through to field execution. This role is vital to ensuring project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met while fostering strong relationships with internal teams and our manufacturing facilities. You will lead cross-functional coordination, drive process improvements, and influence the growth of prefab manufacturing operations within the organization.
Position Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
- Perform assembly takeoffs and maintain unit count/unit matrix for prefab scope. Conduct wire takeoffs and material quantity estimates from electrical construction drawings. Lead material quoting and procurement efforts to support production schedules and cost targets.
Production & Project Execution
- Manage the end-to-end prefab project lifecycle, including procurement, production planning, and delivery to field operations.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to plan and schedule production activities aligned with project milestones.
- Monitor manufacturing progress and proactively address production challenges and delays.
- Oversee and support the receiving and flow of materials through the warehouse into production lines.
Design & VDC Coordination
- Drive alignment between VDC design timelines and production needs.
- Ensure all prefabrication elements are modeled, reviewed, and released to production on schedule.
- Collaborate with VDC teams to implement design changes and updates as needed.
Change Management
- Quote and process change orders specific to prefab scope.
- Communicate changes to design and production teams, ensuring updates are implemented efficiently.
Operations Support
- Act as the central liaison between manufacturing, field operations, and project management.
- Provide regular updates on prefab production status, delivery schedules, and outstanding dependencies.
Data & Continuous Improvement
- Track production metrics and report on performance indicators related to prefab output and material usage.
- Identify and implement improvements to prefab workflows, scheduling processes, and standardization efforts.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to innovate within prefab workflows and tools.
Here’s What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Construction Management, Engineering, or Business.
- 3–7 years of experience in project management, preferably in construction or Manufacturing.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, particularly with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills and experience with data analytics tools are a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of construction industry practices and electrical systems is highly desirable.
