    A Truckload of Gratitude

This Veterans Day, we’re saying thank you to one of our nation’s defenders with a truckload of appreciation.

But this was no ordinary thank you though! This thank you included a 2023 Land Rover Defender SUV.

Veterans who had been with Power Design for at least two years were entered into the Truckload of Gratitude Giveaway for the chance to win the 2023 Land Rover Defender SUV as a small token of the company’s gratitude for the sacrifices made while serving their country.

“We are extremely proud of our Power Design family Veterans who sacrificed so much to defend our country and protect our freedom,” Chairman and CEO Mitch Permuy said. “We are honored they are a part of our company, and we are thrilled to be able to give this Defender to one of our defenders.”

This past Wednesday, the Permuy Family secretly drew from the more than 150 names to see who would be surprised with a brand-new SUV!

Say hello to our lucky winner: Army Veteran and Power Design Chief Estimator Jose Morejon, who just celebrated his 12th year with us this past week. Morejon, who wasn’t aware the drawing had happened, was asked to join Mitch for a meeting, but instead of a meeting was surprised by Permuy with the keys to his brand-new SUV.

Morejon served in the Army as a Personnel Administrative Specialist from 1982 to 1986 and was responsible for more than 2,000 personnel at Fort Carlson in Colorado. Fun fact about Jose? He completed his workload by 9 a.m. every morning! His passion for people and getting the job done was ingrained in him during his time in the service, and that work ethic and people-focused mindset shines through him at Power Design every day.

We sat down with Jose to hear how his time in the service got him here and what this giveaway means to him — check it out:

How did your career in the military set you up for success?

My time in the military taught me to be diligent, responsible, and trust others. After all, I can’t do it all myself. Serving in the military gave me guidance in life.

Can you describe the moment you saw the truck and the Permuy family waiting for you?

I was in shock and disbelief. All I could think was: “I am so blessed.”  I never in a million years thought that I would win this great honor. It is without a doubt the biggest thing that I have ever won and I keep pinching myself to make sure that this really happened.

What does it mean to you that Power Design supports you being a Veteran?

To know Power Design supports and values us the way they do is unbelievable. But it’s not just me, it’s me and the 150-plus other people who sacrificed and are here today.

In addition to the Truckload of Gratitude Giveaway, Power Design will also be donating all funds collected through its Project V5 initiative during the month of November to the Wounded Warrior Project, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and the Patriot Fund. Project V5 takes the funds collected from recycling extra scrap metal located on Power Design job sites and invests them in charities nominated by Power Design team members across the country. Power Design invests more than $1 million annually through Project V5.
