At Power Design, we know that building a data center isn’t just about speed — it’s about precision, reliability, and having the right people in place for a seamless project delivery. That’s exactly what we brought to the table for the recent 10MW data center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We’re tackling every system in the building – fire alarm, VESDA systems, DAS, and all main electrical components. From our flexible resources to prefabrication efforts, Power Design is a top-tier candidate to piece together these intricate data centers — see for yourself.
With our extensive labor pool, we were able to mobilize quickly and meet the project’s aggressive schedule. From electricians and low-voltage technicians to prefabrication specialists, they gave us the manpower and expertise to build a data center of this size and complexity at record pace, in less than 18 months. When faced with schedule changes, we were able to pivot and adapt to the ever-changing pace of construction.
“I'd say the most complex portion of this project for us is that we ended up with a rather compressed and accelerated schedule due to the construction of the building. We really had to figure out how to coordinate labor, be ready for tasks in a short duration, and we have about 50,000 man-hours to be completed now in a four-month duration instead of a nine-month duration.” Matt Graham | Director of Data Centers
Data centers demand specialized knowledge, and our team has built a reputation for bringing advanced electrical systems and power distribution without compromise. From cabling and switchgear to life-safety systems, our crews executed this first phase with efficiency, safety, and quality at the forefront.
Our prefab capabilities played a critical role in this project. By assembling key electrical components offsite at The Link, we reduced time in the field, improved quality control, and streamlined installation. That efficiency meant the Albuquerque facility could be delivered faster while meeting the high-performance standards required by our client.
“We highly rely on our inner coordination with our VDC department, preplanning, being prepared, prefabrication, etc. The team here did an excellent job sourcing many of our panels and distribution boards for our prefabrication center in Florida. Still, we also set up a prefabrication site here so that the guys could start bending all the feeders, doing the big pipe work, having it all laid out, planned out in time so that when we had the open.” Matt Graham | Director of Data Centers
This 10MW Albuquerque data center isn’t just another project — it’s proof of what happens when you combine scale, skillset, and innovation. With the growing demand for data storage and connectivity, Power Design continues to lead the charge to deliver data centers across the country.
