We’ve Got Student Housing Covered: The Track Record Behind It
Written by: Power Design
In student housing, the schedule isn’t a target; it’s a hard date. What separates us in this market is our deep labor pool, our processes, and our commitment to putting our partners’ needs first. That’s the reputation Power Design has built.
The scale behind that track record, right now:
- 54 active student housing projects
- 27M+ square feet under construction — roughly 470 football fields
- 17,721 units nationwide across our current portfolio
- Teams actively working in college markets from Ann Arbor to Tucson, Boulder to Tallahassee, and dozens of campuses in between
Numbers like that don’t happen by accident. They’re the result of coordination that starts long before a crew ever shows up on site.
Coordinated from day one:
We build backward from the move-in date starting in preconstruction — locking crew counts, material lead times, and mobilization plans and more. Long-lead electrical equipment gets ordered early, so a supply chain hiccup six months out never becomes a crisis. Projects are staffed from a deep labor pool of skilled tradespeople, so we can shift manpower from another region and pivot when necessary to get the job done. Our teams are in the room alongside the rest of the trades, from the earliest coordination meetings through to streamlining schedules and processes.
Our current portfolio shows what that looks like in practice. On Verve College Station in Texas, we’re delivering the full electrical scope alongside general contractor Hoar Construction. On ACC OP Lane & High in Ohio, we’re handling both electrical and DAS for American Campus Communities and Marous Brothers Construction — two systems coordinated together, not bolted on separately at the end. And at Hub on Campus Raleigh, we’re part of a joint venture bringing the electrical scope to a project for a major university market.
Different developers, different general contractors, different cities — same approach, same result.
Scale that works in your favor:
Being a national design-build multi-trade contractor means we’re not planning one job at a time — we’re managing labor and material needs across dozens of student housing projects simultaneously. That visibility lets us move a crew, expedite materials, or flag a challenge before it ever touches a critical path.
That’s what “we’ve got student housing covered” actually means: the coordination, the bench strength, and the supply chain discipline to hit the one date that matters, every time.
