    About the Position

As an Associate Estimator at Power Design, you’ll support the preparation, analysis, and development of cost estimates for Audio Visual (AV), Low Voltage (LV), Fire Alarm (FA) and integrated technology systems within large-scale commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects. In this role, you’ll learn the fundamentals of project estimating, vendor pricing, and material analysis under the supervision of senior estimators and department leadership. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical understanding with analytical problem-solving to help build accurate and competitive bids. Based at Power Design’s state-of-the-art headquarters in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida, this position offers mentorship, exposure to AV, LV, and FA system design, and a pathway for professional growth within our Technology Solutions Design organization.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for (AV, LV, and FA) systems, including equipment, labor, materials, and subcontractor pricing.
    • Review specifications and bid documents to ensure a complete understanding of project requirements.
    • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
    • Maintain and organize pricing databases, vendor quotes, and bid documentation for AV and low voltage systems.
    • Support bid reviews, proposal preparation, and project handoff processes in collaboration with senior estimators.
    • Learn and apply Power Design’s estimating software, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite to complete bid takeoffs and proposals.
    • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and product information.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and cross-functional training to build knowledge of technology systems and the broader estimating process.
    • Demonstrate initiative in learning Power Design’s project delivery and financial strategies.
    • Support Power Design’s core values of integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation, and growth through collaboration and excellence in execution.

    Here’s What We’re Looking For

    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, mathematical, or scientific field preferred. Equivalent field installation or estimating experience will also be considered.
    • 1–3 years of related construction, technology, or estimating experience preferred (Audio Visual or Low Voltage background is a plus).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and PDF editing software (Bluebeam or similar).
    • Familiarity with estimating or project management software is a plus.
    • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and time management.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities.
    • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
    • A growth mindset aligned with Power Design’s culture of innovation and excellence.
