Setting Safety Standards Across the Nation

In an industry with higher-than-normal injury rates, safety is not only a priority for Power Design, but an integral part of our culture. We Zero-in on safety to recognize and energize the programs that help eliminate preventable injuries at work. Our emphasis on safety allows us to proudly sport an impressive 0.65 EMR Rate, well below the industry average of 1.0. In honor of National Safety Month, below are a few ways we reward safety and ensure our employees have the knowledge and resources they need to get home safely every day.

Whether through enhancing our safety policies, seeking out emerging trends, or expanding our safety teams, we are continuously improving how we approach safety. Each of our projects is required to complete weekly job site safety and temporary power inspections. We are also now requiring that every new field employee is OSHA 30 certified before boots hit the ground on a Power Design job site. On top of that, our Safety Managers perform random safety inspections at each of our job sites across the country, in addition to our QC department conducting their own safety inspections.

Nothing is more important than ensuring everyone goes home safely to their families. Everything we do, every initiative we push, is centered around that.

    Director of QC & Safety

Recognizing and rewarding our team members’ commitment to safety is a common practice at Power Design. In a similar fashion to prior years, we gave away a safety truck to one of our Senior Superintendents who met and exceeded our company-wide safety goals. At every job site and in our offices are constant reminders of safety on our walls, dashboards, shirts, laptops, and iPads. It is the primary metric of our CRUSHED IT job success program and something we are always striving to improve — and we aren’t the only ones who notice!

Our training, best practices, incentives, and overall emphasis on safety have led others in the industry to recognize our efforts. We have been awarded ABC’s STEP Platinum Member status three years in a row and received the 2022 OSHA SHARP Award of Excellence for our Stiles Midtown project.

Safety is an integral part of our culture and drives our decision-making across the country. We are proud to employ the highest standard of safety for our workers to ensure that they can return home safely, each and every day.
