Many Paths, One Mission: Women in Construction

We’re giving it up for Women in Construction not only this week, but all year-long!

The National Association of Women In Construction is celebrating 25 years of Women in Construction and so are we by taking a deep dive into this year’s theme: “Many Paths, One Mission.” Follow along to see how we spotlighted our trailblazing Women in Construction that continue reaching new heights and disrupting the industry this week.

Our culture makes you almost forget that women are a minority in the industry! Power Design has created a welcoming and inclusive environment where women are given a voice and are encouraged to be their authentic selves.

No matter what path was taken to become a part of the industry, strengthening and amplifying the success of women in construction is what it’s all about. Whether on a job site or in the office, each role at Power Design contributes to the overall success of our #PDIFamily.

And that success starts at the top!

Did you know that half of our Executive Committee is made up of women? Five leading ladies are responsible for the success of the company, including our Co-Founder Dana Permuy. Along with our fearless female leaders, we have more than 400 women taking part in making Power Design the top multi-trade contractor our partners have come to expect.

With a strong presence of women in leadership, we were also excited to talk about our one and only new Regional Vicw President Nelzay Rivas Pulgar, and hear from her about the steps she’s taken to get where she is today, and the impact she hopes to leave on the industry and women around her.

And don’t get us started on Kelly Winthrop, our only female plumbing designer who helps bring some of our largest plumbing projects to life. Kelly gave us the inside scoop on what it’s like to be the only woman leading the charge in her position – check it out here!

But don’t think we”re leaving the construction to the men only? We don’t think so! It’s a collaborative effort at Power Design where we use teamwork and innovation to set us apart as an industry leading organization — each member of our #PDIFamily plays a crucial role in shaping our nation’s skylines.

From executives and managers to office support staff, apprentices, and fore(WO)men in the field — our bad ass ladies are building one another up to feel supported in an industry where women are the minority.
