Behind the Scenes: Data Center Super

We know when it comes to building data centers, three things come to mind: speed, precision, and safety, and it takes a dedicated superintendent to keep a project like this running smoothly. Say hello to Project Superintendent Cody Erwin. For Cody, leading a data center project means showcasing precision under pressure.

Data centers move faster than any other project type. What might take two years elsewhere must be completed in 12 months. “We have to plan ahead, staff up fast, and hit every milestone,” Cody explains. That means precise scheduling, constant coordination, and a strong plan of both manpower and materials. At this scale and speed, collaboration becomes everything. Supers work hand in hand with the GC, other trades, and our prefab and logistics teams to keep every piece moving on schedule.

That speed leaves no room for error. From duct banks to overhead conduit runs, everything is coordinated down to the last detail, because downtime isn’t an option.

I’m so proud to be part of this PDI team. We’re breaking into new territory — data centers, industrial work, stadiums. This is day one of a whole new chapter in PDI’s history.

What sets data center supers apart? Vision. The ability to see the build before it exists and lead teams to make it real. It’s a job for those who thrive in detail, coordination, and speed. This is the kind of work that defines Power Design’s future.
