Renewable energy is quickly becoming standard spec on commercial projects, and it's a capability Power Design delivers in-house. In Austin, we're proving it on two fronts for a national distribution leader: a multi-megawatt solar installation and a large-scale EV charging build, with our own crews self-performing the scope on both.
On the solar side, we were brought in for the electrical and mechanical installation on a 5.49-megawatt project — around 10,000 panels on a large commercial warehouse roof. To hold an aggressive commissioning schedule, our team prefabricated the racking and solar assemblies at our own facility in Palmetto, Florida. Everything ships torqued, inspected, and ready to set — which means tighter quality control, less time on a hot Texas roof, and crews free to focus on the complex circuiting that has to happen on site.
Nearby, we're the install partner on the distribution center's EV charging infrastructure — and the scope is about as turnkey as it gets. We're self-performing the civil work (concrete patching and underground), the electrical, and the medium-voltage scope for roughly 270 Level 2 chargers and two Level 3 fast chargers. The Level 2 units handle overnight charging up to 80 amps; the Level 3 chargers turn a vehicle around in about 15 minutes.
