    ABOUT THE POSITION…
    The Lead Material Handling Associate supports the Material Handling Supervisor by assisting with the coordination of daily material movement and team operations. This role ensures materials are accurately and efficiently handled within the warehouse and production areas, following company standards for safety, productivity, and accuracy. The Lead Associate serves as a working team leader, helping train and guide peers, and acts as a point of contact in the supervisor’s absence.

    POSITION DETAILS/RESPONSIBILITIES…

    Team Support & Leadership

    • Assist the supervisor in guiding daily material handling activities and supporting the material handling team.
    • Help train new team members in safety procedures, equipment usage, and workflow expectations.
    • Serve as a resource for team members on material movement processes and WMS procedures.
    • Support timely and accurate movement of materials across departments and buildings, including:
      • Storing newly received inventory
      • Delivering raw goods to production lines based on work orders
      • Replenishing storage areas with finished goods
      • Completing other non-purchase/sales order material movements as needed
    • Help ensure proper storage, labeling, and safe handling of materials.

    Equipment & Technology Use

    • Operate forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, and scissor lifts safely and efficiently.
    • Use handheld scanners, barcode systems, and warehouse management software (WMS) to process and track material movements.
    • Monitor and report any equipment or system issues to the supervisor.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Model and reinforce adherence to workplace safety practices and PPE requirements.
    • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment by reporting hazards and unsafe behaviors.
    • Follow all company policies and procedures in daily tasks.

    Continuous Improvement & Organization

    • Maintain clean, organized work areas and support efficient material flow.
    • Suggest process improvements to the supervisor when opportunities for efficiency or accuracy arise.
    • Assist in implementing organizational changes or improvement initiatives as directed by the supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Experience: 2+ years of experience in warehouse, material handling, or logistics roles; leadership or peer training experience preferred
    • Technical Skills: Familiarity with WMS systems, barcode scanners, and Microsoft Outlook
    • Certifications: Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain
    • Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Problem-Solving: Proactive in resolving basic workflow or material issues
    • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and operate material-handling equipment safely
