    ABOUT THE POSITION…

    Are you a pro at all things picking, packing, and shipping? Then we have just the opportunity for you! As our Shipping Lead, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all shipments leaving our distribution center are accurate and timely. You and the Shipping Supervisor will work together to manage picking, staging, repalletizing, verifying, wrapping, weighing, dimensioning, labeling, selecting carriers, arranging pickups, and tracking shipments. Our many construction jobsites across the county rely on the distribution center to correctly pick and ship the building materials they need to get the job done - making your role essential for meeting project timelines and budgets, and keeping our customers happy.     POSITION DETAILS/RESPONSIBILITIES…

    • Taking the lead when the Shipping Supervisor is out of the office, and assisting the Shipping Supervisor with the following:

      • Maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring staff wears required safety gear and follows safety protocols at all times.

      • Holding self and team fully accountable to getting all outbound orders to the jobsites accurately and on time.

      • Prioritizing pick waves to ensure the most urgent orders are picked first.

      • Managing the staging process to ensure each staging area contains the right items for a single order and project.

      • Overseeing the repalletization process to ensure pallets are packed in the most efficient way to minimize freight costs.

      • Leading the verification and quality control process to make sure the picked parts and quantities match each order exactly.

      • Directing the staff to shrink wrap, weigh, dimension, and label the pallets accurately.

      • Comparing freight quotes and selecting the right carriers for the right shipments based on cost, delivery time, and other jobsite factors (accessorials, appointments, etc…).

      • Booking carrier pickups and ensuring the right orders get on the right trucks.

      • Entering tracking information into the system and answering any tracking related questions quickly.

      • Researching lost or damaged freight and processing freight claims as required.

      • Communicating proactively with project managers when a shipment may have an issue.

    • Other responsibilities include:

      • Assisting with shipping processes such as picking items, staging pallets by project, repalletizing to maximize efficiency, inspecting pallets for accurate contents, weighing/ measuring/ wrapping pallets, and loading shipments on carrier vehicles in prioritized order to ensure on-time delivery.

      • Safely operating power industrial trucks (PIT) such as forklifts, order pickers, electric pallet jacks, stackers, and scissor lifts at work heights up to 40 feet - equipment training and certification are provided free of cost.

      • Using handheld scanners and tablet computers to process tasks, read barcodes, and take photographs for documentation.

      • Following on-screen directions and troubleshoot problems.

      • Utilizing software such as Microsoft Outlook and Deposco Warehouse Management System (WMS).

      • Responding to emails and phone calls quickly and following up persistently until all issues are fully resolved in a timely manner.

      • Inventorying and replenishing all shipping supplies to prevent stockouts.

      • Training team members to operate heavy machinery including standup forklifts, picker lifts, reach trucks, and ride-on pallet jacks.

      • Maintaining data accuracy in the warehouse management system and quickly correcting any issues.

      • Taking pride in maintaining an exceptionally clean and organized warehouse.

    You will also need to be able to:

    • Lift up to 49 pounds.

    • Push utility carts up to 60 pounds.

    • Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts.

    • Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around.

    • Go up and down stairs (where applicable).

    • Work at a height of up to 40 feet and/or on a mezzanine (where applicable).

    • Adhere to strict safety, quality, and fulfillment production standards.

    WHAT IT’S LIKE INSIDE…

    • Safety - Your safety is our top priority, so we will train you thoroughly and provide all required protective gear.

    • Surroundings - You’ll be working around moving machines including stand-up forklifts, order pickers, electric pallet jacks, stackers, scissor lifts, elevators, and mobile carts.

    • Activity - Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs.

    • Temperature – Our distribution center is air conditioned, but temperatures can vary between 60°F and 90°F in some parts of the warehouse - on hot days, temperatures can be over 90°F in the truck yard or inside trailers.

    • Noise level - It can get noisy at times, and we provide hearing protection if you need it.

    • Dress code – Clean and professional with a few rules to follow for safety - Power Design will provide collared shirts, safety vests, and an allowance of up to $100 for hard-toed shoes – employees will provide long, gray work pants and can wear a Power Design ballcap if desired – any other personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job with be provided by Power Design at no cost to the employee.

    HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR…

    • Must have at least 2 years of experience leading a warehouse shipping department.

    • High School, GED, or equivalent diploma required.

    • Standup forklift certification preferred.

    • Intermediate computer skills necessary, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Able to read and interpret part numbers that are often long and complex.

    • Strong math skills including counting, addition, subtraction, and multiplication.

    • Must maintain a friendly and helpful attitude at all times.

    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

    • Willingness to stay as long as it takes to get the work done when volume spikes from time to time.

    • Reliable transportation to get to work on time.
